Like a lot of people out there, I'm completely addicted to my Clarisonic! I've been using it with the same handful of cleansers for months, and haven't added anything new to my routine. Last week, I started breaking out - badly for me - and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why. I washed my sheets and pillowcases, became hyper-aware of anytime I was touching my face, and nothing was helping.
About two weeks ago, I starting consistently using Cerave for my cleanser (I usually keep it on hand in case I need something ultra-gentle, but my cleanser stash was getting out of hand and I wanted to use it up), and, of course, I used it with my Clarisonic. Every time a breakout started to go down, I'd spend a few extra seconds 'scrubbing' that area to try to avoid any flakiness, but the breakouts kept coming.
Lo and behold, this morning, I notice a jelly-like gunk under the Clarisonic brush (which is new, because I make sure to clean it out every six weeks or so). I cleaned it out and disinfected it really thoroughly, so I'm willing to bet my skin will be clearing up. I'm sure there was a digusting sesspool of bacteria growing down there!
tl;dr: Use caution using a non-foaming cleanser with your Clarisonic!! Because of the non-foaming, they must sink in more readily and get gunky.
