A question for those from the UK...

What you call Jelly we say "Jell-O or pudding"

And the spread - we call it Jelly or Jam. Like, peanut butter & jelly sandwich.

I'm quite well versed in both dialects, I've been to British and American Schools.

I haven't heard of 'cookie' as prostitute but I do know that 'tarte' or 'tart' means prostitute. Also, as clarified in other posts, biscuits are sweet and are totally different to the American biscuits. Jelly is never used to refer to Jam in the UK, jelly is the American Jello-o.

The list goes on:

UK - US

lift/elevator

flat/apartment

toilet (UK)/washroom (Canada)/ Bathroom (US?)

Tipex/whiteout

Sellotape/scotch tape

Rubber/ eraser

to let/ for rent

chemist/ drugstore or pharmacy

shop/ store

centre or shopping centre/ mall

crisps/ chips

Those are just some....

im mostly english and cookie for me is a biscuit with chocolate chip bits in it.

i tried one of those kfc biscuits and hated it. too salty.
