There are so many new procedures done that one of them might work the best for your skin. If it comes down to getting a prepscription it will work better due to the fact that it will penetrate the skin and cause cell turnover and division. While skin care products do not effect cellular structure and function of the skin otherwise they would be classified as drugs and not sold.
