I think one of the problems with our society is the fact that most of us can look at that picture, shrug it off and say "Oh it's not that bad" because she is a celebrity and the fact that a famous photographer took the picture.
Let's look at this picture in a different context.
Imagine a school teacher was found to be in possession of a picture (one similar to the VF Miley pic) he/she took of one of his/her 15 year old students. The teacher would lose his/her job, it would be all over the news and there would be outrage. Child pornographer!
I think the picture is a beautiful picture, but not appropriate for a 15 year old girl. But just one person is not to blame. Miley, her parents, the photographer, all her handlers, and Vanity Fair are all to blame. It is irresponsible for them to present a 15 year old girl with a huge fan base of girls younger than her in this light.
I am sure most of you have seen myspace and the photos some young girls post of themselves. Is this what we want our daughters, granddaughters to think is appropriate? I sure don't.
We should not be pushing young girls into growing up so fast. There is plenty of time for that.
