Hi,

I feel a bit weird writing on a make up sight but i am here cause i am need of your help and advice.

I am male, 36 and have a very oily forehead and nose. Its been like this for 20 years.

I know how it got oily. Back then, when i did have hair (!!), my hair got very very oily. So when i fell on to my forehead it then became very oily as well. Between the ages of 16-20 my forehead was extremely oily. After i shaved my head the acne cleared up a bit but my forehead remained very oily. I thought back then that over time it should get better but 20 years later its still very bad.

I saw a skin care specialist in the early 2000s but they gave me stuff that dried the skin out but after an hour or two the oil would just come right back.

About 10 years ago i gave up a little and just tried to get it as good as possible. But that has meant washing my face every hour or so (or whenever i use the bathroom) to clean off the excess oil and keep it at a reasonable level.

My wife about 6 weeks ago told me to try Cellnique 'skin purifying cleanser' and 'skin action sebum gel' as they have helped her. But for me, after i put it on and clean it off my skin felt pretty good. Clean and when i felt it not the usually oily yuck type of skin. But that lasts for about an hour and now 6 weeks after using it day and night i feel my skin is maybe more oily than before. When i wake in the morning the oil is quite bad, and i need to wash my face straight away to remove all of the oil.

I dont want to have perfect skin and dont care about wrinkles and that type of thing. I really just want normal skin where i dont have to pour water on it every hour or two to take the excess oil away.

Im really not sure what to do. The things i have tried havent seemed to help me. I just youtubed very oily skin and a few people have mentioned milk of magnesia. So i might try that but given how oily my skin is i am not sure if this will help or not.

If anyone has any suggestions i would be very grateful.

Thanks..!!

Hi Australian, im also an aussie :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Maybe you can try natural things like smear a thick layer of natural yoghurt on you face and once it has dried on your skin rinse with warm water... This will remove the oils from your face. You can also use anything with citrus in it on your face.

It sounds like you should exfoliate your face and use a toner to get rid of that excess oil... Ive also heard that apple cider vinegar is good for oily skin. Hope that helps.

You are washing your face too much, dear. No more than 2x a day is necessary. Do you have acne still or just oily skin? Wash your face 2x, am and pm, follow with some witch hazel or toner and use oil-free lotion or moisturizer. Also, if you used hair products that may have accounted for some of the acne you experienced. The overwashing triggers your skin to produce more oil. I would try a gentle cleanser that's low or no foam, like Simple or Cetaphil to start with. If you're still breaking out, you can try facial products with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide and an exfoliating treatment.

Well I always preferred the homemade recipes to get rid from oily skin... you can try some of the following tips....

  1. Clay masks or mud masks reduce greasiness and help tone your skin and draw out impurities. The masks are available at most drugstores.
  2. Egg-white masks are said to firm the skin and soak up oil. Mix one teaspoon of honey with an egg white and stir well. Then add just enough flour to make a paste. Apply the mask to your face, avoiding the eye area.Let it dry for about ten minutes, then wash it off with warm water
  3. Mix aloe vera with oatmeal and apply it to your skin. Wash it off after 15 minutes
  4. Mix lemon and orange juice with honey and apply it to your face. Wash it off after 15 minutes.
  5. Make some cucumber pulp and mix it with lemon juice and apply it to your face. Cucumber is a natural toner. It also helps to clean the skin.

Cucumber ( KHEERA) juice 15 ml + Mint ) PUDEENA) juice 15 ml + Lemon juice 10 ml + Tomato juice 10 ml + Glycerin 5 ml.Prepare & store. Apply this over your face or effected area at bed time for 30 days regularly your spots will be no more Do not squeeze your acne it leaves black spots over face.Apply honey at bed time over your acne for 30 days. You may also use Holy BASIL leaves juice mixed in honey. You will get rid of your problems

Thank you everyone for your feedback. RubyJackson is your one for oily skin or for acne. Acne not really a problem more just very oily skin. I will try that and if that doesnt work i will try a few of the home remedies above. Thanks..!!

I have had the same problem actually, and I recently discovered Biotherm's Purefect cream. It regulares sebum production and it literally dried my skin out. It also has zinc in it. I use it at night and it has really helped me, but of course this problem is very individual.

if i'm outside and i don't have the access to a sink and facial wash, i use oil blotting paper for a temporary fix. they're usually found in drugstores and are awesome.

Superb Tips given by people, and I'll add one into them, You should use Fuller's Earth on regular basis.

I have also dealt with oily skin too, and right now I use a shine control makeup and a setting spray that also controls the oil on my face so I can get through my work day.

Have you noticed a difference in oil production for different amounts of washes? I know I used to wash my face several times a day but found that only made my skin produce more oil. I would look at trying to find a good moisturizer that will help you. Maybe hop around some different sites (including stores like Nordstrom and Macy's) to see what you want to try out. The moisturizer was the last piece of the puzzle I had to solve to get my oil production in control. Do you exfoliate as well? I do that twice a week.

And the oil blotting sheet are great - I used to use those!

Good luck!
