I'm a little late to this thread, but I do web programming/design/digital graphics/server maintenance/copywriting/etc for a large-ish company in the petroleum industry. I re-programmed their website from the ground up several years ago after a previous buffoon made a total mess of it & they were getting close to zero traffic. I've been looking after it ever since. Like vogueboy, the company I work for gets a great deal because I do everything they need - and then some. Which means they have no need to hire anybody else. I'm a one-stop-shop. The pay is very good, however. I negotiated my own salary, fair to the company & myself. I love the fact that I work remotely since moving from the city overseas where I was hired several years ago. This allows me to take vacations whenever I want to because my office is my laptop, allowing me to be on the beach in any country I choose & working at the same time when necessary. I pretty much sleep when I want, work in my pajamas, set my own hours, etc. It might sound like I don't work hard, but I do. I'm on-call 24 hours a day, constantly checking my email for any emergencies or urgent requests. Under certain circumstances, I'll go without sleep for up to 48 hours, til I get whatever needs to be urgently done completed. I love my job, to be quite honest. The owner of the company & president are great people, I've known them personally for years, and we've never had any issues between us, despite the fact that they understand little of what goes into the work I do. I consider myself quite lucky because most people I know feel their jobs are complete drudgery. On the side - which brings in some money - I also work with natural raw ingredients, creating non-toxic skin care products focused on anti-aging & acne-prone skin like sunblocks, makeup removers, cleansers, moisturizers, facial exfoliators, spot treatments & specialty masks, as well as a few cosmetic items like setting powders & finishing sprays, plus a few products for pain & injuries such as sprains, burns, cuts/scrapes & deep bruising. Love doing this, have been active in this for many years, but don't have enough time to do this full-time as I once did many years ago. I now mainly create these products for family & friends, as well as myself, who are tired of the many crap products in the stores. I find both jobs a good outlet for my creativity as well as my constant desire to research newer techniques, methods & ingredients. They're both very different in function & form from each other, which makes this a great balance for me.
