Depends what you mean by glycerine soaps? Handmade soap has naturally occurring glycerin in, formed as part of the soapmaking process. It's valuable so the cosmetic companies strip it out and sell it off. That's why commercial soap (if it is actually soap and not a detergent bar) is harsher.

There are also glycerine soaps which look clearer which are a soap base that is melted and additives added. They have quite a lot of glycerine added to them but I still find these are not as nice on the skin as handmade cold or hot process soaps (in my humble opinion) as they contain foaming agents such as SLS/SLeS. This is what Lush do - use a base that they then add additives to. Most Lush soaps (if not all??) have SLS in and that makes my skin really itchy!!
