UD lipstick is stuck!

One of my friends just got a Urban Decay lipstick.  It's one of the older ones from their sale.  The cap is stuck and we can't get it open.  We're a little afraid to pull too hard in case the little sword on the end snaps.

Has anyone had this happen before?  Any advice on how to get it open?

I would take it back or send it back and get a replacement. If you break it open they may not accept it.
