Thanks for posting these Tony..

I was just wondering.. does anyone know how often this happens in that area (well not THIS disastrous but any hurricanes)? I know Florida has hurricanes every year. But I don't recall any disasters from hurricanes in Mississippi and Lousiana in the past..??

hi,

my name is devin and i am from houston. a lot of the residents from new orleans are coming here to houston. they are bussing the residents that were in the super dome here to the astrodome, which is about five minutes away from me. i have family in louisiana, but fortunately they live further away from new orleans. we will be serving food this weekend...sat., sun., and mon., taking food donations and money for over 200 families. our prayers go out to everyone effected, and we are trying to accomodate here in houston the best way we since it is a huge city.

I am completely disgusted by these low-lives that are looting. They were actually smiling when caught. To me, there is no sinking any lower (no pun intended). Absolutely no morals whatsoever.

I will be attending a food and clothing drive next week. I believe the organization is donating all goods and monetary donations to the relief fund. Hopefully it will help all those in need.

I was SOOOOO disgusted last night. My husband and I were watching the news and it showed some people looting a Wal-Mart. Then it panned over to the shoe department where two POLICE WOMEN were putting shoes in a basket and debating about their sizes!!!! When the anchorman walked over to them, they walked away. He followed one of them and asked what she was doing. She said she was looking for looters. Meanwhile the looters that she was so desperately looking for were walking past her with their arms overflowing with stolen merchandise. Not food, water, or supplies but jeans, shirts, shoes, toys, etc. What is wrong with these people!?!!!!

How embarrassing, it's taking well over 3 days to get relief to our own people. What exactly is the delay? I thought our country was ready at a minute's notice, but I guess only when they have something to gain. Anyone catch Bush's speech, it's on it's way...

My heart goes out to all the people that have lost soooooo much
My husband and I were watching the news all night, and it breaks my heart to see so many people, many with young kids, losing not only their properties but their loved ones. It truly places everything in perspective....our thoughts and prayers go out to all the residents affected.

Seeing the looters was really freaky. It's like being in a third world country

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't posted on this yet, just got my power back on like an hour ago. It has been crazy here in Louisiana right now. I also feel for all the people left in New Orleans, the city will never been the same, I hear it will take around 4-5 years to get it back and running. We have lost a lot of our coast line from Katrina.

Now, I live about 2 hours from New Orleans, and the weather here was also very bad, they say that New Orleans didn't even get the worst of it. It hit my area from it's weakest side and we still have tons of damage, over 60,000 people in my area alone are still without power and running water. Luckily we never lost our water at my house. The pics below is of my house during and after the storm, mind you it is nothing compared to the rest of the south east part of Louisiana but it is still bad. I have many holes in my roof about 3-4 inches around, the branches where just falling like stakes into the roof, I also lost a nice size section of my fence. The wind was crazy scary, you would hear silence then all of the sudden you would hear what sounded like a huge truck coming down the road, then swoosh a huge gust of wind would come through, then silence again until the wind came back, then it started to rain along with the wind. It was just all around bad and scary, I was so lucky I was able to have my family there with me. And knowing that they are safe comforts me.

Again Thanks for posting this topic Tony, my prayers are with all the people that have came in from New Orleans, and I also thank you all for your prayers for everyone in Louisiana.

I can see straight into the yard next door, damn fence, must have been older than we thought.

Notice my grandma in the door way? She is watching the weather, I had my whole family at my house, thank God we were all safe.

Notice the guy to the right of this picture, this is my husband in his work clothes, looking up wondering how the hell is he going to deal with this.

I'm so saddened at how some people are looting and shooting at people! I heard on the news last night that one looter even shot a police officer in the head and that police were low on guns and getting shot at a lot.

I really don't understand why it's taking so long to help them considering we had warning that it was going to hit really hard.

I read on the news that natural dissasters such as hurricanes, tornados, etc, are gonna be more common and worse because the hole in the ozone layer is growing. We destroy the earth and we get a taste of our own medicine.

This stuff is so sad all those people without their belongings and some of their family members to be with them. I am happy that you and your family is alright. I send a prayer to all those people who died and to the people that still have to suffer with all the remainings of the disaster to think about.
