Most of the high-end mascaras just leave me kind of...meh. Not so much that any of them suck, but none of them shine either. Of these I'm least impressed with the Lancome mascara that vibrates, because that's just a silly premise. If I want something long that vibrates...I'm not buying it at Macy's, I can tell you that!

I do a lot of GWPs and they almost always include a mascara. I rarely have to buy them because of this, but when I do I just go to Rite Aid and pick me up some Cover Girl Lash Blast. It does the job just fine. I'm freakish about replacing my mascara every three months so I'm not going to spend $30 on it when I can get a nice lipstick.
Exactly! If I'm gonna spend $30 on something, it's gonna be a blush! Not something that I'll just have to throw away in a couple of months.

And won't be going near my eyes, either ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I definitely have higher expectations for my high end purchases. Items I've been dissatisfied with are: -Benefit They're Real Mascara (spider lash city) -Benefit Boiing concealer (broke me out) -Fairy Drops Scandal Queen Mascara (overpriced for results achieved) -Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes (overpriced for results achieved) -Tarte Cheek Tint (kind of oily) -Nars Pro-Prime Pore Refining Primer (broke me out) -Too Faced Primed and Poreless Oil-Free (OVERPRICED!) -Naked2 (loved it when I first got it -- but when the initial love of owning it wore off,I don't find myself reaching for it as much as I should) -Makeup Forever HD Foundation (didn't cover like I thought it would) -Hourglass Veil Foundation (overpriced for not making my skin look PERFECT) -Philosophy Purity (NIGHTMARE! I've never seen my skin so broken out and irritated! It was AWFUL!) I use a mix of high end and drugstore. But high end needs to be able to out perform its drugstore counterpart or it is returned!

This is exactly how I feel. I have yet to find a high end mascara that I have felt was ACTUALLY WORTH the money.

I recently read that paying for HE mascara is a complete waste- The pigment in all mascara tends to be pretty similar. Formulas vary a bit, but the main factor between a great mascara and an okay one is how the brush applies it. So it's more about finding a brush you like :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Makeup Forever HD Finishing Powder I bought the sample size and Im glad I didnt sink 30$ into the full size. I found this to be incredibly hard to blend. It’s like it immediately soaks right into where ever you pat it, giving you no window for blending. With my NW-43 skin, I’m sure you can see my frustrations. It looks ok (I guess) once I spray some Fix+ over it, but if you look close, you can still see a splotchy mess. It does absolutely nothing as far as any kind of oil control. I feel like it almost gives my makeup a dull, caked on appearance. Its alright(I guess), but honestly, I like the 6$ ELF powder much more. Some people SWEAR by this powder, I hardly reach for it anymore.

Urban Decay All Nighter&Deslick- Also got the trial size of these. I really dont notice a difference on how much it makes my makeup stay on. Ive never really had a problem with it 'coming off' in the first place, so Im not sure what I was expecting with All Nighter. De slick did nothing for me oil control wise. Really over hyped for nothing.

I don't buy a lot of high end things unless i know for sure that i will love them. If there is any possibility of my not liking them i just won't buy it hehe. One thing that let me down was the Fresh Sugar lip treatment (chapstick or whatever it is) I got it as the Sephora birthday gift this year. I personally was disappointed in it and didn't think it was worth the money, it didn't impress me in the least (mostly because of the price, if it was half the price I think i would love it). I let my mom try them though and she really liked them so i gave them to her. I also bought her a full size one as a part of her Mother's Day gift. She is a natural beauty and doesn't wear much makeup or shop for expensive beauty or skin products so i was so happy to find out she liked something like that Fresh Sugar and will happily continue to buy her it even if i don't think it is worth it for someone like me.

I'm going to chime in and agree on shelling out $$ for mascara. As it stands, I still use two different kinds to get the vava vvooom look for nights out and just one of my two for daytime wear. I always like getting samples/GWP of high end mascaras, but I have yet to shell out the money for one. Drug store brands work just as well and since I use two kinds, I'm not paying out $60 for three months worth of product lol.

Recently picked up a tokidoki palette and the pigmentation in the eyeshadows was a pretty big let down.  Pretty dry, too...

I bought a Tokidoki palette for $10 during Sephora's Black Friday sale, and the shadows were very sheer and totally lacking in pigmentation. Kind of a letdown! Also, the packaging was extremely clunky and stupid.

I was disappointed when I tried the Stila One Color tubes, the color and primer in one thing. The color payoff on all but the deepest shade was lousy. It was advertised as a multitasked that could do eyes, lips and cheeks, but on the eyes it creased up in less than two hours. I saw it recently on HauteLook and I think it's been discontinued--no huge loss for me.

I think you can buy a trio of 'em on Stila's website (I know I've seen it on Hautelook the past few times Stila's been on there), but yeah, from what I've heard, best not to bother--even at those very low prices.

Stila has become a huge crapshoot for me in recent years. I loved the old-school lipsticks they had, before everything they make comes in a tube you have to twist--they had some of the nicest stains! I still really like their Illuminating Tinted Moisturizers and Convertible Color, but the eye colors and many of the lip glosses now leave me kind of flat.

Their lip glazes are so incredibly mediocre to me. They're okay, but they get sticky and tacky after awhile. Plus, the amount of product you actually get for the price is awful. I hate how it looks like there's a decent amount in there until you twist it up and out.

Although I do like the new lip and cheek stains--provided what you're looking for is a light weekend look that's better with jeans and sandals than a cocktail dress and strappy heels. This is one of those things I'm still on the fence about, however, because like the lip glosses it is pricey for what you get and there are either better products that do the job (Garden Botanika Lip and Cheek Stain, Three Custom Color Specialists Simply Beautiful lip and cheek color) or comparable products at a better price (The Body Shop lip and cheek gel.)

...I really love Benefit's tints (all three of them, lol), and find that they work really well for me. Very buildable and natural.

Though I know many, many people will disagree with me, I was really not impressed with UD's Naked 1 and their 24/7 glide on eye pencils. The shades in Naked just didn't show up well on my skin and it looked kind of like I wasn't wearing anything at all. I find myself reaching for my wet & wild palettes more :/ The eye pencils just do NOT work on my waterline which is really what I like lining. Even the black was terrible and nowhere near my fav eyeliner from Prestige (which retails for $5 and is literally amazing). Every other eyeshadow or eyeshadow pencil product from UD I've tried has been great, though.

I also didn't really like the Orgasm blush from NARS. Same problem as before, where I felt like it didn't show up well on my skin.

Yes, MAC really is cranking out those collections left and right. I get tired of receiving those emails. It seems like there's a collection dropping 3 to 4 times a week.

Oh, most definitely. I think another thing that drugstore brands do really well are dupes of well-known cult favorites, like NARS Orgasm blush for example.

And as far as disappointments go...oy vey, look at MAC! I'm impressed with the Hey, Sailor collection, but the Beth Ditto one that they just churned out has not impressed many. The quality looks to be really, really poor. It seems like some brands (MAC, cough cough!) are just poppin' out collection after collection, and quality and originality has been really declining as a result.

I'll agree on the Diorshow. I do really like the way my lashes look when I put it on, but a $30 mascara does not impress me, especially since I chunk mine religiously every three months. I just ordered the Maybelline Colossal mascara which I've heard is really similar, so we'll see.

I'm not really feeling the UD Naked palette, either one of them. Though I don't have it, I can not bring myself to purchase it either. It just seems so... so... lacklustre...? The colors aren't anything special. I have similar shades, if not, exact same colors in MAC or another brand, they just didn't all come together in one palette. Eh... just not into it at all.

Received it in a BirchBox, used it as directed. Did not notice any improvement in shine, manageability, or condition of my hair. At $54 for four ounces, it needs to be a performer :)
Yep! I got it in my BirchBox too. It's fine, but no better than any other product I'm using from the drugstore. The one perk is that it's a small size, so I'll use it when I travel...

Oddly enough, my favorite mascara (for years now) is Cover Girl Lash Exact. It is the only one that consistently looks great for day to day wear. I don't think it gives me enough oomph for when I'm going to an event or something.. but it's perfect for every day use...
