I think my biggest problem with the "comparison" video was her lack of knowledge in BB. You got a BB from a friend, right? So you've never been a BB customer (please correct me if I'm wrong!) which would explain why you didn't know the correct price and didn't touch on their rewards system or how they too, have a monthly theme and intro/welcome letter describing what samples you get. With that being said, it's kinda hard for me to understand your feeling compelled to compare a company to another company that you don't know much about.

correct I got it from a friend and have never done "research" on the company, but just have gone off of what people have told me they've gotten in their boxes. I didn't feel like I needed to be a longstanding customer to be able to do a review, the compelling feeling I had was because I was so disappointed in the box and wanted to voice my opinion, just as some people try a new product one time, love it, and want to do a great review on it. It's no different, but I definitely see what people mean about doing an information video on the starbox alone, so I think I will take the video down, and next month when I get my next box, I will do a video on that by itself.

This new Starbox subscription sounds unique! I haven't seen that many full size products in one box yet... Although I did get a full eyeliner in my last Birchbox which was pretty awesome. I think I'm gonna subscribe too! But in the thread above... where they ask if she works for Starbox? That's funny.. because there's all these people sticking up for Birchbox so wholeheartedly.. It seems like they work for Birchbox or something!

I love my Birchbox subscription. I hope I love my Starbox too...

Welcome to MUT, I am the one that posted your video, I am a subscriber and saw it in my subscription box right after I had posted about this service. I am sorry if anyone was harsh in here, we just say it like it is. I think if you do a comparison it is really important to do your research because you're giving false information, which then makes the comparison inaccurate.

I have signed up for the StarBox just because of your video so there was a plus side on that, however, I do also receive a BB and it is far better than what you received. I can't wait to see your SB video alone and to see what is coming in the following months! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I have to agree with Vee. I don't see how you can really review something without really researching it and understanding it.

Exactly.

I personally really like samples. I really enjoy trying new things out & buying full sizes if I love them, which I have been doing a lot lately. Getting 3 full size StarLooks lip glosses for $15 isn't for me but I am glad some girls liked this.

I see your guys' point. I'm not a makeup artist or anything, I'm just obsessed with makeup for myself and I LOVE to try new products that come out. I get really excited when they put makeup and not just skincare in my Birchbox, which doesn't seem to happen that often. But I also have to admit, I don't research anything before I comment on it either. I feel like I'm just a normal consumer, so I like to tell my friends my opinion of products I like. I feel bad for Lauren that she did that, just posted her opinion, and people expect her to have to have researched everything before hand. Either way, I like that she commented in the video about the quality of the glosses too, not just the fact that Starbox compares themselves to MAC or whatever.
And I have to say, I've been getting Birchbox for over six months now... like I said above, I love it. Because I'm one of those people that loves samples. But this is my second month of Starbox, and last month I got a lip liner, a lipstick and a gloss! And I love all those too! I'm taking care of my makeup subscription, and my sample "skin-care" testing box all in one month!   I love that there are all these types of boxes out there. And as far as I'm concerned, people can love them or not... That's just my opinon ;-)   BTW this is a cool blog! I'm glad I came across it!

THe video on SB's Youtube freaked me out. All that running lipgloss made it look like the girls just slobbered all over themselves or got sick/foaming at the mouth..Not attractive to me in the slightest. Yuck.

Yes, very unappealing. How is that supposed to show off your product and make others want to buy it?

I made it about 20 seconds into the video and had to stop. It looks like a bad advertisement for a porno.

*snort* Very much so! The nude gloss dripping just looked very gross & sloppy. :x

Yeeeeah. It was, uhhh...interesting.

SO I just found out about Starbox from SuperFreaky1RU and I am sad that I missed out on the lipglosses (I love anything lip related).

I went on their website and found out more about their box. Does anybody know when you have to sign up by for the June box? Is it too late?

I'm on the first 45 secs of the video and have to pause it because I would want to clarify -- based on their website --

Subscribe to your monthly Starbox and receive 3 to 4 FULL SIZE makeup products, hair products and/or accessories by STARLOOKS- Delivered to your door for $15 per month!
Which means -- its not ALL make up! Yipee for full size but there is still variation with hair products and/or accessories.

Makes me want some Starbucks now!

Copied/pasted from the FAQ section of their website:

Check your order confirmation for an estimated shipping date. Your first Starbox will probably arrive the month after you place your initial subscription order. For example, if you place you order in March (between 3/1 and 3/31), you'll receive your first box in April. All Starboxes ship from our west coast facilities by the 15th of every month; your Starbox should arrive an estimated 5-10 business days after it's shipped.

I have been charged again, even though I was charged on the 31st of May. I emailed them to see why, but if I am going to be charged twice before I receive one box, I might have to cancel. I did that with Eco Emi and I did not like that!

Reminds me of Cosmetique: $25 a month for their own brands that turned out to be the same stuff in different colored plastic packages. The wear time was short, my complexion dull after a couple of weeks of use. My husband even broke out around his mouth if he kissed me when I was wearing the Cosmetique brands. This sounds kind of shady to me.

That sounds a bit unfair. I have been receiving Starboxes for the last two months and I have been happy with the contents.  The lip glosses were great and my boyfriend never broke out when I kissed him. I have also been happy with the BB's I have been receiving but listening to you complain about makeup product you have never used and have never seen seems a bit shady to me.
